Building Africa's
Circular Economy
from the Ground Up

Waza Green is a climate innovation enterprise transforming plastic waste into sustainable infrastructure while creating economic opportunities for communities across Africa.

Climate Innovation Circular Economy Community Impact

Why We Exist

Unemployment continues to affect millions of young people across the Democratic Republic of Congo, where opportunities remain limited and economic systems struggle to absorb a rapidly growing population.

For many, survival means turning to informal work. For others, the lack of opportunity leads to deeper social challenges: instability, migration, or disengagement from economic life.

At the same time, environmental pressures are intensifying. Plastic pollution is rising, ecosystems are degrading, and urban infrastructure is failing to keep pace with population growth.

These are often treated as separate crises. We saw them as one.

What if waste could become opportunity? What if the same plastic polluting our cities could create jobs, build thriving infrastructure, and restore communities? That is where our journey began.

Youth in DRC

One Crisis. Multiple Consequences.

Across African cities, two major challenges are accelerating at the same time — and they are deeply connected.

Rising Unemployment

Millions of young people face limited access to stable and meaningful work. Entrepreneurship is often the only path, but without support, most initiatives fail early. Every unemployed young person represents untapped potential.

Growing Environmental Pressure

Plastic waste is accumulating rapidly — polluting cities, blocking drainage systems, and increasing flooding and health risks. Every piece of plastic on the street is both an environmental problem and a loss of economic value.

The Missing Link

These challenges are deeply connected. The problem is not a lack of resources — it is the absence of systems that connect them. Waza Green builds exactly those systems.

Connecting Waste, Work, and Infrastructure

Waza Green operates at the intersection of waste management, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

01

Waste Collection

Plastic waste collected from communities and urban environments. Local collection systems create employment while improving environmental conditions.

02

Sorting & Processing

Collected plastic sorted, cleaned, and prepared for recycling — ensuring safe and efficient conversion into new materials.

03

Manufacturing

Processed plastic transformed into durable construction products — long-lasting, weather-resistant, suitable for a wide range of infrastructure applications.

04

Infrastructure Development

Materials used to build schools, libraries, roads, and community structures — closing the circular loop by turning waste into functional infrastructure.

The result: waste becomes a resource, communities become participants, and cities become more resilient. We do not just recycle — we build systems that create value and give waste a second life.

Green Entrepreneurship: Where Climate and Economy Become One

We define green entrepreneurship as the integration of environmental action and economic opportunity — where each reinforces the other.

In practice, this means:

Plastic waste becomes income.
Climate action becomes employment.
Communities become drivers of change.
Rooted in communities, not imported models.
Frugal by design, adapted to real conditions.
Focused on systems, not short-term interventions.
Committed to creating value from existing resources.
"Climate action without economic inclusion cannot endure, and economic growth that degrades the environment is not progress. Real change occurs when people and planet advance together."
— Waza Green Philosophy

Young people are not passive beneficiaries — they can build impactful, scalable solutions even in the most constrained contexts.

What We Believe In

We believe that climate action is strongest when it uplifts people, and economic innovation is most powerful when it restores the earth. We call it Green Entrepreneurship.

Environmental action without social sustainability is vanity. Social action without environmental impact is vanity. We refuse to choose one or the other.

Young people can build socially impactful, financially sustainable, and environmentally powerful ventures — even in the toughest contexts like the DRC.

We believe in deep-rooted enterprises: businesses that don't just survive, but stand the test of time — rooted in community, guided by purpose, built with mutual benefit.

Real change is not dependent but self-sustaining. We develop systems that can grow beyond us and create impact that outlasts any single intervention.
